History
Jain Yuva Sangathan (JYS), Bangalore, was founded in 1988 with the blessings of Jain Saints Sri Sumatiprakashji Maharaj Saheb and Vishalmuniji Maharaj Saheb at the serene and propitious venue "Sri Ganesh Bagh", located on Bhagwan Mahaveer Road (formerly known as Infantry Road), Bangalore.
Since its inception, JYS has been devoted to unite all sects of the Jain community on a single, harmonious platform.
Since it's inception JYS has been organizing the Janm Kalyanak Mahotsav (Birth Celebration) of the 24th Tirthankar, Bhagwan Mahaveer Swamy, fostering unity, devotion, and collective spiritual growth among Jains.
In recognition of its dedicated service, the Government of Karnataka, associated with JYS during the historic 2600th Birth Celebration of Bhagwan Mahaveer in 2001, marking a significant milestone in the Sangathan’s journey.
Sangathan is the mother of success, while disintegration leads to failure.
JYS is a well-known social service organization working tirelessly for the upliftment of Jain culture while addressing the educational, medical, and basic needs of underprivileged Jain families. Every year, our Sangathan is blessed by Monks, Nuns, and other eminent dignitaries from the Central and State Governments, who graciously acknowledge and appreciate its sincere service to society
Our Vision
JYS is deeply committed to ensuring that the entire Jain Community celebrates Samvatsari on a single day, strengthening unity and harmony. Our organisation is also determined to eradicate social evils and outdated practices through active participation and collective responsibility. The members of Jain Yuva Sangathan selflessly shoulder responsibilities across various segments of society, dedicating their time, energy, and personal sacrifices for the upliftment of the Jain community. “Sangathan is the mother of success, while disintegration leads to failure.” With positive thinking, confidence, strategic planning, coordination, and dedication, JYS continues to serve society and remains deeply grateful for the physical, moral, and financial support of the Jain Community
Achievements & Activities
- Renaming of Bangalore’s bustling Infantry Road to “Bhagwan Mahaveer Marg” by the State Government.
- Promotion of Jain values through programs such as “Jain Antakshari, soulful talks, sayankalin bhakti etc., to inspire devotion and unity.
- Publication and distribution of vegetarianism awareness stickers in regional languages Kannada, English, and Hindi.
- Publicity of Bhagwan Mahaveer’s preachings through large hoardings across Bangalore.
- Distribution of Jain calendars, diaries and religious materials to donors annually.
- Submission of memorandums to Government authorities for the closure of slaughter houses on the auspicious day.
- Exceptional management of drinking water arrangements for 18 continuous days during the Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagwan Bahubali (2006) at Shravanabelagola.
- Participation in Ed-Milad, Haj and Christmas celebration programs to promote communal harmony and brotherhood.
- Organization of grand exhibitions, Kavi Sammelans, and Jain cultural events.
- Efforts to name a train between Bangalore and Rajasthan as Mahaveer Express or Vardhaman Express.
- Conducting competitions, quizzes, and value-based programs for children.
- Home Science classes for girls.
- Publication and distribution of Jain magazines during Samvatsari and Deepavali.
- Regular blood donation and blood testing camps and other humanitarian initiatives.
- Strong coordination with over 200+ reputed Jain organizations across state.
- Display of meaningful tableaus depicting Jain principles during processions
Formation of Jain Yuva Sangathan Seva Trust with objectives being
- “A Ray of Hope in Life” – life-saving medicines at 50% cost.
- “Jeevan Shiksha” – educational assistance to needy Jain students.
- “Jeevan Raksha” – financial support for medical operations.
